In a world that is in such
desperate need of hearing the word
of truth, there is a desperate need
for servants, teachers and
preachers of that word. The British
Bible School provides an
opportunity for you to become
better grounded in the word through
an intensive time of Biblical study
so you might be better equipped to
serve God according to the
abilities he has given to you.
"All scripture is inspired by God
and is useful for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, and for
training in righteousness, so
that everyone who belongs to God
may be proficient, equipped for
every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16,
17, NRSV.
"and what you have heard from me
through many witnesses entrust to
faithful people who will be able
to teach others as well." 2
Timothy 2:2, NRSV.
You can. In fact, we are soon to be
launching our Distance Learning
Programme to enable students who
are unable to travel to the school
to study the courses we offer.
However, there is no real
substitute for being in a classroom
with a 'live' teacher in an
environment conducive to discussion
and debate.
By the end of our two-year
course, students will have
engaged themselves in more than
3,000 hours of Bible study,
having had numerous resources at
their disposal and having been
guided by men with many years of
experience both in the classroom
and in the world of outreach. No
wonder many graduates have said
that this was the best two years
of their lives!
Not at all!
Students have come to the school
from many parts of the world and
are now serving in some 30
different countries. We are
delighted to be able to welcome
students from anywhere in the EU
on either our residential or
distance learning programmes.
Students from outside the EU are
currently able to enrol only
through our distance learning
option.
No. Though a number of graduates do
go on to devote their lives to
serving in this way, many do not
believe that that is what God has
called them to do. Some continue
into some other form of higher
education whilst others continue to
pursue a chosen career path.
Regardless of what might lie ahead
after graduation, all graduates
will have a much better grasp of
the message of the Bible and should
be well-equipped to serve within
all kinds of new environments.
Firstly, there are no tuition fees
- all teachers are independently
funded. There are minimal module
fees and you will need to provide
for your accommodation, travel and
living expenses and are expected to
raise funding to cover these costs.
We are currently revising our
student funding policies and
suggest that if you have any
further questions in this area
that you contact us.
For a student to enrol on our one
year course, the cost would be
around £3,000 - mainly to cover
living expenses. That must surely
be one of the greatest
investments an individual or
congregation could ever make!
If it is God's will, then yes! We
are not able to provide any funding
for graduates but will certainly
provide recommendations where
appropriate. We are all called to
live by faith and to put the things
of the kingdom of God above all
else - he will provide all we need.
"For the pagans run after all
these things, and your heavenly
Father knows that you need them.
But seek first his kingdom and
his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you as
well." Matthew 6:32, 33, NIV.
"And my God will supply all your
needs according to His riches in
glory in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:19, NAS95.
We have a variety of ways of
assessing students' progress,
including set examinations. These
are intended to help the student in
the learning process and enable
teachers to assess how best to
help. Examinations are not the main
purpose of study, but a means to be
better prepared to serve through a
better knowledge and understanding
of the word.
No. We recognise that there is no
such thing as a perfect version and
that all have advantages and
disadvantages - some more than
others. We do, of course, believe
that the Scriptures are the
God-breathed word and are reliable
from beginning to end.
We are in the early stages of
applying for accreditation through
ASIC which will enable us to accept
students from outside the EU under
tier 4 of the new PBS. A part of
this accreditation process will
require independent appraisal of
our course leading to some form of
accreditation within the academic
world. It is unlikely that we will
be in the position to offer degrees
within the British system in the
foreseeable future. The awards we
currently offer are of an internal
nature, although credit has in the
past been given to these in a wider
context.
These are tools to help in the
learning process - for some they
may be more useful than for others.
The assignment of module points
helps us to maintain consistency
and standards throughout the
curriculum. And internal exit
awards (certificates and diplomas)
can be a useful way of providing a
target towards which students can
aim and a recognition of a standard
of achievement when reached.
“But the goal of our instruction
is love from a pure heart and a
good conscience and a sincere
faith,” (1 Timothy 1:5, NAS95).
We have never made any charges for
tuition as all teachers are
independently funded in one way or
another. Study Weekends, Extension
Classes and the Distance Learning
Programme all have costs which need
to be met, beyond the costs of the
Residential Programme. Compared
with other programmes, our charges
are minimal and extremely good
value for money.
